Cranio-Sacral Therapy?
30 minutes of Cranio-sacral therapeutic Treatment will combat chronic pain by eliminating the
root cause of it’s occurrence. It does this by directly targeting and healing it’s micro-traumatic effects, thus preventing their harmful accumulation.
In the case of joint pain, Cranio-sacral Therapy will work by taking the joint through it’s full range of motion, flooding the area with soothing synovial fluid, which is joint fluid, and ensuring it’s full lubrication.
With regards to muscular pain, again, these simple Cranio-sacral movements work to correct the micro-traumatic effects by keeping the major muscle groups at their correct length (when they’re over-stretched, inflammation of that area, and chronic pain, is the natural result).’
Cranio-sacral Treatment allows your body to bounce back from the micro-traumas placed on your muscles and joints, eliminating the causes of pain before they get the chance to get a hold on your body. Essentially, in assisting your body to cure (and prevent) it’s own hurts!
“Cranio-Sacral Therapy is a gentle, hands-on method of evaluating and enhancing the functioning of a physiological body system called the Cranio-sacral System, which is comprised of the Membanes and Cerebro-spinal fluid, which is the fluid in the brain and spinal cord, that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord.
With the use of light contact, the practitioner can monitor and balance the rhythm of the system at key points, to pin point the source of restriction or stress.
1. The CranioSacral System: “A physiological system consisting of the skull, spine, sacrum, the membranes (meninges)and the cerebral spinal fluid that protect the brain and the spinal cord.
2. Viscera.“The internal organs of the body cavity.”
3. Fascia:“Connective tissue that suspends, supports, and protects every aspect of the body: from the cells, to the tissue, the muscles, the organs, and the nervous system and brain itself.”CranioSacral Therapy (CST) was pioneered and developed by Dr William Sutherland in the 1930’s which was further expanded by osteopathic physician John E. Upledger who wrote the manuals following extensive scientific studies from 1975 to 1983 at Michigan State University, where he served as a clinical researcher and Professor of Biomechanics.
Using a soft touch generally no greater than 5 grams, or about the weight of a nickel, practitioners release restrictions in the cranio-sacral system to improve the functioning of the central nervous system.
By complementing the body’s natural healing processes, CST is increasingly used as a preventive health measure for its ability to bolster resistance to disease, and is effective for a wide range of medical problems associated with pain and dysfunction, including:
- Migraine Headaches
- Chronic Neck and Back Pain
- Motor-Coordination Impairments
- Colic
- Autism
- Central Nervous System Disorders
- Orthopedic Problems

- Traumatic Brain and Spinal Cord Injuries
- Scoliosis
- Infantile Disorders
- Learning Disabilities
- Chronic Fatigue
- Emotional Difficulties
- Stress and Tension-Related Problems
- Fibromyalgia and other Connective-Tissue Disorders
- Temporomandibular Joint Syndrome (TMJ)
- Neurovascular or Immune Disorders
- Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
- Post-Surgical Dysfunction
SER (REPAIR) is a therapeutic process that uses and expands on the principles of CranioSacral Therapy to help rid the mind and body of the residual effects of trauma. SER also :
- Assess and mobilizes the Avenue of Expression working through more than 10 different body components, including the thoracic inlet, hard palate, TMJ and hyoglossal tissues.
- Locate and release Energy Cysts.
- Release suppressed emotions that may be inhibiting complete structural releases.
- Refine listening and comprehension skills.
- Improve palpation and whole-body evaluation skills.
